Are treadmills bad for teenagers?

I’ve been on the treadmills thrice and would like to continue to work out. The problem is my mother believes they’re bad because someone told her that I still need to grow (I’m 14) and my muscles will grow stiff resulting in an operation. Is this true? What other ways can I work out that’ll actually burn a lot of calories at the age, otherwise?

No that would mean running is bad, which is NOT true! At your age running is a good thing to start now.
the information you were given is 100% inaccurate. there is no form of exercise that is bad, only exercise that is performed improperly.
no way running on a treadmill is just like running outside tell ur mom that ur muscles dont work any harder on a treadmill than if u run outside
as long as you use a natural stride then there will be no bad effects, running can be kinda hard on your feet and knees, but on a treadmill is probably better than pavement and then you dont have to worry about cars and dogs and stuff. Swimming is good exercise too, tell your mom that if she coughs up some money to join the local fitness center you will use the pool instead of the treadmill.
Treadmills are perfectly safe. The key to not getting stiff muscles is to stretch beforehand, but you’re old enough to get involved with your school track team (if you have one), which would entail a lot of running and jogging (which is what you do on a treadmill).
