whitesox09 asked:
And I mean when it’s like 70 degrees and sunny outside.
ddtozone, no that’s not true. I actually asked this because I saw a bunch of very in-shape people running on treadmills at the gym today.

jen, I’m not sure what you are talking about. Treadmills do show you how far you’ve gone.
Cris, I didn’t ask for the weather forecast. I’m know it’s in the 60s and 70s sometimes in Vegas and there are still people inside running on treadmills.

so they can read a book or watch TV at the same time
also, they might be shy
or want to avoid car/truck fumes
On a treadmill there are no dogs chasing you, traffic which could hit you, holes to fall into, and all the other hazards of outdoors. Treadmills are a controlled environment, which a lot of people enjoy.
Because they are lazy and want to have up to date equipment on everything and show it to there neighbors and boast about it lol or because they live in a rain forest hut and it rains alot so its not very good condition for running outside.
Or they might be vampires?? so they cant go in daylight
they might run at night instead and run on a treadmill in the daytime
I dunno you decide
??????
Could be allergies, safety (depending on where they live), watching kids, preoccupy their brain while they run w/ tv, maybe their specific treadmill is easier on joints than street is……
I think some people are more predisposed to seek the outdoors than others.
The temperature where I live is 36 celcius, so it is too hot to run outside. It is more boring to run on the treadmill, but with the weather in some areas being too hot/too cold, it is important to have indoor alternatives.
I suppose that people continue with using the treadmill even when the weather is good just out of habit. Personally, when the weather is good, I hike outdoors as well as use the treadmill.
It’s not 70 here, it’s like 100 in Vegas.
Treadmills are used for the purpose of comfort: reading, watching TV, etc.
Treadmills are really only for people who are out of shape and want to get in shape. If you’re trying to be a serious runner (even if you ARE out of shape), it’s best to run outside (or on an indoor track, if the weather is too harsh).
i dont know about anyone else but i find it much easier. it helps me stay at one pace and when im running tredmilless (if thats a word) i cant stay at one pace and i get tired easy. plus when ur on a tredmill,u dont see how far youve ran or how far you need to run. you just do it and focous on doing it and nothign else
because there stupid… thats all i got to say
Because you can’t get hit by a car on a threadmill. There are crazy SOBs on the road where I live.
Having said that, I do run outside, since a threadmill takes up so much space in the house. There is less incentive to quit when you’re outdoors. On a threadmill, you can stop anytime you feel tired. Outdoors, if you run 2 miles from your house, you have to get back home.
Personally I think a mini stair climber is better than a threadmill. It gives you better exercise and occupies less room.
It’s a convention which is useful in most senarios (some of which are already explained)
Running outside is good but only in day time when weather is not too hot and not too sunny and not too windy and no rainy clouds and not too many cars or street lights outside and not in a bad neighborhood and when you feel surely confident that you can run/walk/get a ride back home somehow in one piece.
Otherwise treadmill is more convenient.
Sometimes on a treadmill I imagine being in some kind of jungle or some mountains! It works! Got to have good imagination.
